On August 18, 2026, The First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China used HC-IORT to successfully complete the world’s first rectal cancer IORT procedure with an electron beam spherical applicator.

Spherical treatment field diameter: 50 mm; prescribed dose: 15 Gy; energy: 9 MeV; beam-on time: 4.91 minutes.
